opening new doors to the arts

Psst! We are giving you a sneaky peek of our Live Lincs autumn programme months ahead of schedule. Come on in, quick!

Sneak peek at our Live Lincs’ Autumn Menu

Mind-blowing theatre, toe-tapping music and the story behind one the most powerful women in British trade union history will keep North Lincolnshire audiences fired up throughout the autumn months.

Live Lincs returns this October with a total of fifteen awe-inspiring shows which are sure to a create a buzz in village halls and community centres throughout the area.

Once again, programmers have catered for all ages and tastes, with a special family show planned for little ones in Oct/Nov.

The fun kicks off with tales of espionage and adventure from Fluff Productions (

Agent of Influence: The Secret Life of Pamela More, explores the dilemma faced by Lady Pamela – fashion columnist and socialite, who is recruited by MI5 to keep notes on Wallis Simpson and Edward VIII, both of whom are suspected of colluding with the German Embassy. Pamela soon discovers that what began as a thrilling adventure has led to a deadly struggle for power in a world in the shadow of war. Will she succeed in her quest? Come along and find out! This show has received rave reviews from audiences all over the country, and will provide an explosive start to the new season.

The show will be followed by Keira Martin Dance’s one woman show, Here Comes Trouble. Keira uses a blend of Irish and Contemporary dance theatre to share her autobiographical tale, drawing on social and cultural influences from Yorkshire, Ireland and … Jamaica! Her heart-warming take on her own upbringing courageously addresses stereotypes and challenges labels. This show is feisty, powerful and most of all real! It kicks off in Wroot on Nov 18.

Up next is some fun for little ones with Rhubarb Theatre Company’s Sidney’s Shed. Suitable for audiences aged 5+ this tantalising show explores the story of a young girl attempting to hide from nasty bullies. She befriends a gardener called Sidney Waffles who has the most incredible time-travelling shed … Magic and mystery are woven throughout this production, alongside some hilarious songs and music. It’s sure to keep the entire family entertained. Book early so as not to be disappointed.

A Live Lincs season wouldn’t be complete without a fabulous Canadian act and this time we bring you some banging tunes from Tomato Tomato – an award-winning band made up of folk, bluegrass and old- timey guitar. This group went down a treat at The Winnipeg, Stan Rogers and Lunenburg Folk Festival. The husband and wife duo, John and Lisa McLaggan, blend high-energy foot stompers and traditional folk which will have you singing all the way home. It’s bound to be an absolutely belting performance – so once again …book tickets early!

Regular Live Lincs’ fans will remember theatre company Townsend Productions who wowed audiences in North Lincolnshire just two seasons ago with Daredevil Rides to Jarama. Now they are back with We Are The Lions Mr Manager – the inspiring tale of Jayaben Desai – one of the most powerful women in our history. The play tells the story of Jayaben’s fight for dignity in the workplace, during the Grunwick Film Processing Factory Strike of 1976-78. Jayaben was one of many newly arrived Gururati workers from East Africa. She took on unfair bosses in a backstreet London factory in what was to become one of the longest and most important industrial disputes in British history. Led by Asian women, the Grunwick strike challenged stereotypes, changed the face of white, male trade unions and inspired others to speak out against injustice. This production has already received rave reviews and will be shown in Barton in November.

There are some shows which stay with you forever and Urban Conceptz Inside My Mind is sure to be one of them. This stunning production explores the focus of human vices, love, loss and personal health in a sensitive portrayal of how one man tries to cope when unexpected problems take hold of his mind and body. This show is as thought-provoking as it is comedic and has been described by critics as ‘physical theatre at its best.’ It will be shown at Barton on Humber Assembly Rooms on November 16.

And finishing up the season will be Maire Ni Chathasaigh and Chris Newman, with their Irish Harp and Guitar. This talented duo have blended traditional Irish music with hot jazz, bluegrass and baroque with some striking new compositions. They have attended festivals in New Zealand, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia and various parts of Europe where they received rave reviews. They will appear in Goxhill and Brigg in November before returning with a special Celtic Christmas Strings event in December.

  • Tickets Prices can vary from £6 upwards depending on venues, with some concessions available.
